Our History

“Now, I not only see the homes created from beginning to end,” says Karen, “but I also can see the land become a neighborhood through the engineering and the plan design.”
With over thirty years of experience, Karen Garner, President of Magnolia Homes, Inc, has succeeded to the forefront of the Memphis market. Karen chose the name Magnolia Homes with a goal in mind. “I wanted to have a name that people would relate to the business, so they would remember it,” she says. “For that reason, I plant a magnolia tree in every yard so people can recognize our homes.” A budding Magnolia tree in a home’s front yard is a familiar site seen in over 500 homes with that “Extra Touch” since 1987.
Today, Karen Garner produces around 60 homes per year ranging from $250,000 to over $1 million and up with the aide of her son, Reggie Garner, Jr.
Reggie became a partner of Magnolia Homes, Inc. in 1998 and has brought his innovative ideas to make the Garner team complete. “My business has really taken some new avenues with my son working with me,” Garner says. “Where I’m more mature and experienced, he has new, fresh ideas. So now, we are attracting all age groups.”
“Now, I not only see the homes created from beginning to end,” says Karen, “but I also can see the land become a neighborhood through the engineering and the plan design.” She also takes her time with each home putting her heart into each and every detail. “It’s interesting to come back through subdivisions years down the road and see how they have changed and how much my magnolia tree has grown. “
Karen and Reggie are so dedicated to building, not only do they offer a quality home, but a labor of love. “My job is like a hobby. When others want to get up and go play golf, I want to get up and go build homes with that ‘Extra Touch’”.
